“Annamaria has been our family lawyer for over 20 years. Her extensive legal knowledge and professionalism are invaluable. Her direct advice in difficult situations is highly respected. Most importantly, Annamaria is a lawyer that is trustworthy and shows empathy and compassion, which is rare in this world. I have no hesitation in recommending Annamaria and her team.”
Probate and estate lawyer in the Sydney CBD
When someone dies, the executor must collect the assets, pay the debts and distribute the estate, usually after a grant of probate. Marano Family Lawyers in the Sydney CBD guides executors through probate and advises families on estate disputes.
Executors can bring documents to Liverpool Street, close to the Supreme Court in Queens Square.
Probate and the time limits that matter
Most estates with real property or significant bank balances need a grant of probate from the NSW Supreme Court. Most uncontested applications are now filed online, after at least 14 days' notice of the intended application.
A family provision claim by an eligible person must usually be filed within 12 months of the death, and mediation comes first.

Loved by the local community
“I had a phone consultation with her, and the conversation quickly turned to fees. She advised her rate was $600 per hour, which I agreed to. The next day, she requested $5,000 to be transferred directly into her bank account, which I also agreed to. I then sent 27 emails containing the story of the dispute I am facing, which I understood were printed. However, when we met in person, it appeared that the emails and information I had provided had not been reviewed. Today, she repeatedly asked me for instructions on how to respond to my ex-partner’s lawyer. When I asked whether she had read the emails I had already sent, it was clear she was not familiar with the information. For that reason, I decided to end the engagement immediately. She refunded me $500 for some printing paper and 1 and a half hour consultation! She is very greedy about money. Do not engage her.”
